Foundation Design
Civil Solutions provided geotechnical engineering design services throughout the design and construction of a hospital expansion in Cincinnati, Ohio. The expansion required excavations in excess of 20 feet from the existing ground surface. Civil Solutions designed over 50,000 square-feet of temporary earth retention to create a safe working space, protect adjacent buildings / utilities and provide access ramps for equipment.
In addition to the temporary shoring design, we provided design drawings for a deep foundation system consisting of 52-inch-diameter drilled piers and 45-foot micropiles to support the new structures. In total, the hospital campus expansion required drilled pier and plug walls, soldier pile and wood lagging retaining walls, and deep foundation elements.
