Jeff Barrow, P.E., LEED AP
CEO

Jeff is creative, innovative and has a passion for leading and teaching.  As a military child, Jeff’s family never stayed in one place too long, which can be hard on a kid, but not for Jeff.  At an early age, Jeff taught himself how to land on his own feet, have the confidence in himself to fit in and would constantly build new relationships wherever he landed.  Jeff is appreciative of the many lessons that his parents taught him and his brother.  His parents both worked tirelessly at their professions, but at the end of the day, their most important role was to be supportive parents.

While earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Washington, Jeff was active in campus fundraising events through Kappa Sigma that benefited cancer research. Yearly goals reached past $150,000 through his creative leadership and inspirational involvement.  Jeff also earned his Masters of Science in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.  His competitive spirit and confidence, serve him well in his various leadership roles.  As an engineer, Jeff sees the benefit of effective communication between owner, contractor and field staff.  Innovation comes from the field, not from the office.  Jeff says, “If you can’t reach out and communicate with the folks swinging the hammers and digging the ditches, then you miss out on the future of our industry and a greater success for the project”.

Jeff is experienced in geotechnical engineering and construction management. He has coordinated, designed, and built various projects clear across the United States in the private, public and government sectors.   As a geotechnical engineer, he designs bridges, dams, embankments, roadways, commercial and industrial buildings and landslide remediation.  He also has experience performing structural and geotechnical engineering analyses including steel design, forensic settlement analyses, L. PILE, liquefaction, slope stability, visual classification of soil samples, soil mechanics, and geotechnical reports

As an expert, Jeff is registered as a Professional Engineer in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, and West Virginia, in addition to being LEED Accredited.  He has certifications in 40-Hour HAZPOWER and Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Training. Jeff also has various affiliations in several continuing education courses including Design and Performance of Earth Retaining Structures from Cornell University, and Segmental Retaining Wall Design from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Delaware.

At CSA, Jeff wants to understand the client’s needs, desires and concerns from beginning to end.   His success is attributed to conveying his vision through drawings, reports and discussions with our team, along with the team in the field making the grade, building the project, and completing the task.  Jeff believes that when you really get to know the client and the client’s situation, you become their asset.  Jeff doesn’t just stick to engineering only, he offers his professional guidance and direction to review the entire project as if it were his own and gives unvarnished advice.

Founding the business in 2011, Jeff continues to be called upon by residents, businesses and municipalities for his expertise in designing innovative solutions to resolve difficult issues.  Jeff’s design methodology is derived from his expansive experience and his familiarity with new techniques.  His creativity enables him to maximize quality, while minimizing the overall cost for the client.
